Year 2 (2019-2020) students headed to Sharjah’s pillar of contemporary art and culture, the bastion of local and international artists and communities alike: the Sharjah Art Foundation.
Students marveled at the experimental displays of art housed within the madina-like structure of the modern buildings and their interspacing courtyards, observing the buildings as they are surrounded by the city’s older structures without dissonance. The Foundation itself proves to be an architectural statement to culture within a city such a Sharjah: the coexistence of the old and new, creating a lively, flourishing community. As such, the students had sat, basking in its contemplative spaces, and sketched them as sections so as to understand how these statements are formed through the experience of this design.
