D6 Architecture hosted a talk by practicing architect; Jennie Binchy, design director of Binchy and Binchy and and a member of the Architecture Industry Advisory Board (AIAB) at Heriot-Watt University Dubai. Jennie graduated from The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, London in 2002, and after working in Hong Kong and London for several years, she moved to Dubai in 2008. Working for a local practice, under Jennie’s tutelage, her design department began to win awards for their work year after year.
After completing projects for global giants including General Electric, Xerox and Christian Dior, Jennie co-founded her multi-disciplinary studio in 2015, to focus on architectural work, often encompassing with interior design and product design as part of the project.
Noted by Commercial Interior Design as ‘one of the region’s most exciting designers’, ‘a star to watch out for’ by Gulf News, and ‘Names to Know: 14 Women Designers in the Middle East’ by Architectural Digest 2021.
Jennie is keen on maintaining a theoretical and intellectual focus in her work, channelling artistic concepts into functional and practical solutions
