May 2025: The collaborative architecture workshop – Synthetic Environments – was held from 26 to 31 May as a joint initiative between CEPT University and Heriot-Watt University. The workshop focused on the theme: Building Immersive Virtual Worlds in the Metaverse.

Architecture students from both universities explored the creation of synthetic environments through immersive digital design. The sessions introduced students to spatial storytelling, virtual worldbuilding, and real-time rendering using platforms like Rhino 3D, Grasshopper, Z-Brush and Unreal Engine. Participants developed speculative environments that responded to futuristic narratives, experimenting with how architecture can evolve in the metaverse.
